Restore the reading culture to strengthen the children’s agency
REC forms book clubs that are 50/50 boys and girls to read for fun and are trained in soft skills that allows them
to critically think and reflect as peer leaders supporting school management from bottom up and passing on their
skills to classmate and to the school giving them a voice to share their concerns and give their solutions through
dialogue. We provide readers to the club, we have a culture of “pick a book for keeps” for each child, reading corners
and restock the school or community libraries. Our library if more than just books … it’s a space to unlearn, learn
and re-learn for development peace and self sufficiency
